Finally! Frigidaires and Stealth Potato Chips
A friend found this stash of booklets at a huge yard sale today. I'll break them up into two entries. The first -

Your Frigidaire Recipes, 1940

The centerfold, if you will. I dig the platter on the bottom right. However I am disturbed by the grapes disguised as pineapple structure.

The grapes are good enough. They don't need to be pineapple. They are worthy grapes.

Recipes that Pep-Up meals with Wise Potato Chips, 1957

Chips and cheese go together like Sonny and Cher.

I just liked this one. But remember, all of these things have potato chips in them. Even the desserts. Maybe especially the desserts.

And this just made me laugh. Now we can all rest easy since we know the recognized diameter equivalents of crushed potato chips.

I assume that the rest of the Potato Chip Cookbook is a lot of "And then serve it with a side of Potato Chips!", right?

Great books, thanks for sharing :)

Alas, no. The chips are integral. I think there's a citrus pie that has a potato chip crust, which might actually work. Maybe.

Now it has me thinking! I may have to use that in a future iron_trash competition!

I know there's someone in my family who makes a lime pie with a pretzel crust. And it's yummy.

I throw down with my Margarita Icebox pie, BTW...

Actually, that drawing on the cheese 'n' chips page is gorgeous!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the "strawberry cheese" concept.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out if its cheese with strawberries, or cheese made with strawberries, or what? It is disturbingly pink.

Wow, this struck a great memory for me. We used to bring Wise potato chips home with us after trips out East as a kid. And my Mom had a recipe for potato chip cookies that used all the little crushed bits at the bottom of the bag. My memory of those cookies is that they were delicious but amusingly absolutely no specific flavor comes to mind for me.

Back in those days, photographers were specially trained to make food shots look as unappetizing as possible.

Mz. Custardfairy?

E-mail me privately. This reminded me that I have some things to snail mail you.

why is the pig covered in cheese balls? I mean potato chip balls.

Frozen creams? Do they mean ice cream? If so, I have never seen ice cream look so unappetizing in my entire life. Ever.

Missing instruction from potato chip crushing instructions: Place your soul between two pieces of wax paper. Crush to death with rolling pin.
